Week 8 Article Summaries Workshop

This week the focus is on completing your Project Milestone 2: 10 article summaries assignment, which is due this week by 5pm on Friday.

Lecture Notes

This week is entirely about getting your Project Milestone 2: 10 article summaries completed.

You’ve already read, evaluated, and synthesized a lot of research this semester. As you’re working through the article summaries for your Course Project, remember you can look back on what you (and others) have done each week for examples of how to present materials (pay attention both to what has worked, as well as what hasn’t).

The Participation Activities this week are entirely in service of the goal of completing and considering in-depth the articles that you’ve selected for your Project Milestone 2: 10 article summaries assignment, including sharing good resources you’ve found with each other and thinking through how you might begin assembling the massive amount of information that you’re gathering into concise summary presentations in future weeks.

Participation Activities

  • Post your article summary for your Project Milestone 2 article that you found EASIEST to read to the Article Summary Sharing Forum (above). • Provide the APA-formatted citation to the scholarly source.
      • In 3-5 sentences, compare the popular source to the scholarly source. What did the author of the popular source do well? What did they do poorly? What follow-up question did you have after reading/viewing/listening to the popular source? If you could make one suggestion to the author of the popular source, what would it be?
  • Journal: Write a Long Tweet Thread
    • Write a long tweet thread (10+ tweets, <280 characters each) about your Course Project topic. Be sure to cite your sources; images/gifs are optional (but do usually make a tweet more popular).
